Border Counties Steam and Vintage Show in Monmouth

We recently took our products to the Border Counties Steam and Vintage Show in Monmouth and the lovely Jackie Hancock from The Poultry Gift Shop (www.thepoultrygiftshop.co.uk) very kindly took some photographs of us there (and the products !) so thought we would share them here with you:) This was the fourth year running we have been to this show and after last years torrential downpours we were ever so pleased that the weather was very fine and sunny. Roll on next year!

Sheppard House in Newent

We quite often are asked to supply raffle prizes for charities or good causes, where we can we do try to accommodate however we are asked almost daily for prizes so we can’t always say yes as much as we would like to. Recently we were approached by Sheppard House in Newent for a raffle prize for their Easter extravaganza, I said yes as Newent is very close to where we live and close to The Bubble. I decided to deliver the prize myself as I was intrigued about Sheppard House and wanted to find out a bit more about them. When I arrived I found a Easter Egg Hunt in full swing with lots of excited children (and adults) running around squealing with delight as they found an egg, the atmosphere was great and everyone even the volunteers were enjoying themselves it was great to see. The Newent Association for the Disabled (Sheppard House Day Centre) was founded in 1981 by Trudie Sheppard, MBE, who is herself disabled, and is the umbrella organisation for Sheppard House, Dial-A-Ride, the Charity Shop and the One Stop Shop. Available funds at that time were just two pounds, and in the early days the Association was a small club held in the local Community Centre. The past decade has seen the facility develop, providing cooked meals, art and craft workshops, entertainment, competitions, computer courses, theatre visits, countryside trips and escorted holidays to specialised holiday centres.
At the present time, approximately 175 disabled and elderly people attend Sheppard House weekly and in excess of 35,000 people use the Dial-A-Ride service annually. So as you see it’s certainly a worthwhile charity and I certainly intend to help them out again in the future. I would like to say a big thank you to Pat and Anne for getting in touch with me in the first place and I hope your fundraising helps you achieve your dreams.

Great Start to the Weekend

Well over at soap central, the chickens are out and about searching for those slugs and wondering when those rabbits (fluffy and flopsy) are going to arrive (Tuesday!) The cats are chilling in the sunshine and most importantly there is lots of soap curing and candle pouring being completed. It's been all go the last few months and all our hard work is starting to pay off. The corporate gifts are really taking off, people are really enjoying the personalisation of our products which make them suitable for just about any occasion! If you take a look at www.blenheimphotography.blogspot.com you will see what we mean, the lovely Jan is very pleased with her personalised candle and is putting them to good use. Anyway must run as still lots to do.

Well I have to admit it's been a while since I have updated this blog, and it's been something on my to do list for ages! There have been so many new ideas and products being put together there has hardly been time to think! So now it's time to get back into blogging and letting you know of all the exciting new things ahead! In the next few weeks we will be showing you our Mother's Day packages ready in time for Mother's Day on 3rd April.

What a busy week

We have had a very busy week at the unit this week, on Monday and Wednesday pupils from Newent School came to have a look around the "Bubble" and to ask questions about soap making and running a business, they all seemed very interested and it was nice to be able to chat for a little while before getting stuck into the wedding favours that we have been making for the lovely Karen who is getting married today. I hope everything goes well at the wedding and that people liked our heart shaped soaps!

Hello everyone
It's been just a little while since our last blog, but here we are back again! We have been so busy making and wrapping our soaps we have hardly had time to sit down and have a cup of tea!

hello all
I hope you are all enjoying Mothers' Day today and smelling lot of lovely soaps! I think this year was our best year for personalised soaps for mummies! So we hope there are lots of happy mummies out there today. We also made bath salts this week with Drybrook Brownies so they could give their mummies an extra special treat today.
As you can see the Lavender and Lime soap is now ready! This is the soap that you decided how it was to be fragranced and now it is ready. I have to say I was rooting for the Chocolate Lavender however after smelling the Lavender and Lime I think it was a good choice.
Well I hope you all enjoy Mothers' Day and the sunshine that has finally appeared!

Hello all

Am very pleased to announce that we came 1st in the National Arts and Crafts section, 2nd locally and we made it into the top 100!! The Results

The results are in! Lavender and Lime will be the next batch of soap I make as directed by yourselves! So in around four weeks time it will be ready for use and on our website for sale so keep your eyes peeled and of course I will be sending out gentle reminders!

Lots to tell and it's only Wednesday!

Well it's been a very busy week so far and the snow has been quite busy again too! On Monday we started making our new range of candles aptly called Forest Flames! Over the coming few weeks this range will become available on our website to buy (www.morethanbubbles.co.uk) we are very excited with this range as we will be able to offer different items such as floating candles, votives etc.
We have also teamed up with www.businessfirstglos.co.uk a leading business development club based right here in the Forest of Dean, we are very excited to be members and I personally am looking forward to our meetings.
The best news of all so far this week is we have been given a certificate from THEBESTOF website, for those who don't know "thebestof" they are a website which has been designed for the public to find the best businesses in a certain area. We have to meet strict rules etc to be allowed to join so we were A) estatic when we were allowed to join and B) really estatic when they handed us this award!
The award states "Mitcheldean Soap has been officially recognised as one of the best businesses in the Forest of Dean because - They provide outstanding quality products and excellent customer service" Well I don't think I could have put this better myself!! So am very pleased and I would like to say a Big Thank You to all those who left testimonials for us on the site which led to this happy event!

Inspiration and motivation

Hi all
Yes the snows still here and getting deeper, in fact it's so deep my youngest can't venture outdoors as the snow comes up past his knees! Anyway all this being snowed in has allowed us to sit back and take stock of where we are at the moment and where we want to be this time next year!
We have come up with lots of ingenious plans and I am just bursting with excitement to get out there and put them into action.
So as much as I love the snow, come on your time is up, melt on and move over as Mitcheldean Soap is taking over!

Great start to the New Year

Spent all day today at "the Bubble" (the unit) and made great progress in building up stock levels again. Have been thinking about a new fragrance for soaps in January - any ideas anyone?
Gave the Bubble a good sort out and a good clean up , it's amazing how disorganised it managed to get over the Christmas madness period.
Now off to have a lovely hot bath with some bath salts I made earlier - they are fragranced with Vanilla, Orange, Ylang Ylang and Jasmine essential oils and if I do so say myself smell and feel gorgeous!!!

Brand New Year

Holidays are all over and I am now starting to think about the forthcoming year. The last couple of months just blew me away with the amount of orders we were receiving for our soap in fact don't tell anyone but I only just kept up with them!
Next year we will be more prepared
Thank you all for helping my business grow, I have moved from my kitchen into a lovely unit and that is all in the space of two years!
